- This 173-page book provides a survey of the basic priniciples of television staging mechanics and demonstrates effective labor-saving approaches for small budget productions. Initially, the purpose and types of staging are discussed
- Various types of set construction including flats, architectural units (such as arches and stairways), rostra, cyclorama (shallow, U-shaped construction) and profile pieces (cut-outs) are illustrated. The use of a number of staging devices, such as disguising the joins, using perspective, and mirrors is demonstrated. Space problems, background lighting, camera access for shooting purposes, the use of decorative panels and various floor treatment procedures are discussed and illustrated. Over 430 illustrations are included in this book along with a glossary and list of further readings. This book may be used in television filmmaking classes. This book, which is 1 of 10 in a series entitled "Media Manuals," is also available in hard cover for the purchase price of $10.95. KT, 3-77
