- Summary
- "Calling the Shots provides an analysis of the finance strategies that shape the scope and quality of immunization services for children and adults in the changing U.S. health care system. This volume, rich with data and highlighted examples, explores several critical areas, including: The evolution of the immunization system in light of changing U.S. demographics, development of new vaccines, and other factors. The scope of coverage for selected vaccines within public and private health insurance plans, with special emphasis on the performance of the"Section 317" program in meeting the needs of uninsured, and underinsured, groups. The role of federal and state governments in shaping and sustaining the public health infrastructure for immunization programs. The integration of public health and health finance efforts in seeking to control and prevent infectious disease, survey vaccine coverage levels and safety concerns, and improve coverage rates among under-served populations." "Calling the Shots will be an indispensable resource to those responsible for maintaining our nation's vaccine vigilance."--BOOK JACKET
