Note
  • "A weekly repository of original papers, and selections from English magazines."
  • Title from caption
  • This weekly magazine borrowed a good deal of its material from British publications, including the Edinburgh Magazine, though there was original material as well. A series "Letters from Italy" ran through many issues and there was some attention to fashion and a good deal of writing on travel and people of foreign countries. Literary material included tales and poetry, biography, anecdotes, articles on literature, and notices of new books. Cf. American periodicals, 1741-1900
