- Summary
- "William Trevor is a man who, in his own words, has always been an outsider. This book sheds light on this elusive character who, although on of the finest short story writers in the language, has always remained intensely media-shy. It examines how his early years and ascendancy background shaped the artist's outlook, providing material for his novels, short stories and stage plays." "MacKenna also evaluates the literary influences on his work and analyses the technical skills and creative evolution of Trevor's genius over more than forty years of writing, including his adaptations for television and radio and the TV classic 'The Ballroom of Romance'. The book concludes with an interview in which the writer discusses some interesting questions which arise out of his work."--BOOK JACKET
